Three Customs Officials Arrested in Gold Smuggling Scam Investigation

Kathmandu: In the ongoing investigation into the smuggling of over 60 kilograms of gold through Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Nepal, three customs officials have been apprehended.

The arrested individuals include customs officer Pushpa Joshi, as well as non-Gazetted first class officers Birendra Nepali and Kamal Pariyar, all employed in the TIA Customs Office.

The arrests were made by the Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police on Saturday. This development comes after the Revenue Investigation Department had previously confiscated 60 kilograms and 716 grams of smuggled gold from the Sinamangal area on July 19.

To date, a total of 30 individuals have been arrested as part of the ongoing investigation into the gold smuggling scandal.
